I always go for a great shirtdress. Maybe it’s because of their retro feel, I’m not sure. But I love a fitted as well as a fit and flare shirtdress in any colour or pattern if it fits well, and own many different kinds.

If you don’t have a great shirtdress, you should definitely check them out for Spring! I have an excellent denim fitted number that I’m really excited to wear with a long sweater overtop and sandals: yum! Right now Gap has some sweet shirt dresses available, patterned and solid. I’m partial to the white for Spring with a jean jacket, statement necklace and great sandals!
Styling Tip: I often have the buttons sewed shut on my dresses so that they won’t gape or pop open. Just leave a few open at the top so you have options when you wear it, and have your tailor (or yourself if you’re skilled) sew the button line shut the rest of the way down.
