Well if you don’t, I definitely think you should. Nothing gives you instant polish and tailoring like a well-cut blazer. You can wear it to dress up a casual outfit, or to dress down a fancy frock. I really can’t say enough about blazers! Convinced? Here are my top 5 ways to wear one:
1) With jeans and heels
With skinny, flared or boyfriend jeans, blazers legitimize an otherwise casual look. For a leaner look, wear with heels.
2) Over a maxi dress
Have a maxi dress you can dress up or down? This is how you dress it up.
3) With a cute skirt
Like a skirt suit, but wayyy cuter.
4) With a midi skirt
This adds polish to a ladylike look.
5) Over a fancy dress
This really “cools up” a formal dress.
Blazer Rules
Buy one that has shape (even drapey blazers, if they’re well-cut, have shape). A blazer should help you create a pleasing, hourglass silhouette.
Have one in black, then look into investing in coloured blazers you love.
Wear the sleeves the way you feel most comfortable: pushed up, cuffed or long.
Have the sleeves hemmed if they’re too long: a long sleeve should end where your thumb starts when your arms are resting at your sides.
Add a decorative pin, scarf or belt to change the look of your blazer
Choose the right length for your body: a traditional blazer should come to your hips, a cropped blazer should end at a thinner part of your torso so you don’t look like a cube.
