Never wear white after labour day, right? My Mom taught me that one. Most of what she taught me was dead-on, but not this rule. Winter white has been being done for a long time now, but what about fall white? I spied the trend in a magazine recently, and the cool thing about it is how you can transition your summer whites into fall. It’s perfect, really, because maybe you have a bit of a tan left, and maybe you’re not so ready to put away all your summer duds come labour day. I’m not, anyway. There’s a flair to transitioning summer pieces though, and here are some ways I’m loving right now…
DAY: My favourite way to incorporate white into a fall wardrobe is to wear coloured tights with it. Grab a cardi and a scarf with flats, boots or booties and you have a perfect fall outfit: not too hot or too cold, bright and fresh while still cozy.
EVENING: White heels. I love these for evening because they’re bright yet neutral. Also in leather, they can be wiped clean, which is perfect for fall icky weather! They look best with all black, or all black with a colour, like the green coat above. They also look killer with boyfriend jeans and a black blazer or leather jacket. I got my white Le Chateau heels at a thrift store because they’re not always available, so if you like them, buy them now while you still can!
WORK: the white coat. The different shapes this season are pretty fresh, but a white coat in any shape that flatters will always do you well. Make sure before you purchase you know what it takes to clean it (dry clean? Hand wash?), because you’ll probably have to often enough. In a sea of black though, a white fall coat is fresh, classic and beautiful.
Well, that’s my take on this Fall’s best trends. Next week I’ll have some outfit posts up, and an amazing GIVEAWAY featuring some trends from this week!!! Stay tuned 😉
